Bought Roxio at Costco and it does not work. One would think u would just have to put in the CD and follow directions. I put it in and nothing happens, think there is something missing on this laptop! All i want to do it put my pictures of my trip on a DVD so they are all in one place and saved, and maybe have a little 'show' of them, geez, why are things always so hard?

  1. You should be able to make a slide show with Windows Movie Maker, which is a free part of your windows software. If you're using a Mac then I have no idea!! You can send me an email if you want help and I'll try to walk you through. I have used Roxio in the past but don't like it much. I think there is a free application on Picasa that also makes slide shows but I don't use it so don't know much about it. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

  2. It may just be that auto run is not set for the DVD player. You can change the setting in the control panel.

Also, you can select computer in the start menu, then open the DVD player while the CD is in it. Then look at the list of things on the CD and double click on the file that ends with .exe and it should load up the program.

  3. Wanted to add if you are just wanting to store your photos, I personally think it is easier to get a portable hard drive. That is the simplest way. If you burn your pictures to a DVD you may not be able to edit them later. A hard drive is just like storing them on your computer and they are always easy to access. A portable hard drive will just plug into a USB port and you'll be ready to roll. That won't help you though if you want to make a slide show. Two different issues.
