Excitement in Davenport

Obama was in East Davenport yesterday afternoon. there were LOTS of closed roads.  this trestle was REALLY marked as were others, there are quite a few really low overpasses in this area & downtown.  they wanted to make sure EVERYONE knew they were there!!
Also note all the cars parked alongside the road, it never looks like this.

They really did not want people going down this main road with all the heavy trucks parked right smack in the middle of the road.  There were 7 people with heat stroke taken to the ER.  We thought about walking down there as it is only about a mile or even less, but it was still very hot.  He did not speak until 7pm and people had been gathering all afternoon. We should have gone, even tho the discomfort, how often are you so near to the workings of democracy??
Another heavily parked street, one way traffic only, yet it is a two way street...
It was a pretty evening.  Really liked the clouds in the fading light. Over the Mississippi!!!
Here is the Afghan that i recently finished, got it in the mail today.  Made it for a friend. Thought it came out pretty good, it is PINK tho or mauve :)  Like making my 'flower' afghans!! Started another one right away.  Just like to keep the hands busy.  You know "Idle hands are the Devils workshop"  :) haha
Take Care all

  1. I can't believe how quickly you get those done, Loree. I have been working on my daughter's sweater for a year now. Off and on of course.

  6. Sorry about the multiple comments, Loree. I was using my phone to comment, which was a mistake. What I was trying to say was, you do very nice handwork, Loree!

  8. I think I would have walked the mile to see what he had to say. As long as it was under 92 that is. Lucky friend to be getting such a beauty. You are very talented.
