Streeter Aldrich, "A Lantern In Her Hand" is another... The travails of trying to settle the plains (West) Farming in such desolate areas. How ever did 'they' do that?? Some stories are just heart wrenching, some filled with hope. These Amish stories have a dash of religion and following God's way and teaching. Which never hurts. They are well written and have nice stories in them, some romance. Just people learning to live in a wholesome loving way. I like that. I just find the Amish way of life and living to be intriguing. To be able to sustain that way life in this world, with all of its distractions. That has to take a certain strength and force of will.
I got my Christmas Cards done, took forever.... and the little favors i am going to give to my stamp club and ladies at the spa i go to.. with chocolate mix & candy cane :) a little homemade something...

The book I read over and over is "Hanta Yo" by Ruth Beebe Hill. I carry a hard cover of that book with me in the rig. It sings in Lakotah to me. :)
ReplyDeleteI like to read all the Amish novels and Cindy Woodsmall is one of my favorite authors. I like her books even better than Beverly Lewis's books. Two other Amish authors that I enjoy reading are Beth Wiseman and Shelley Shepard Gray. I've been on a real kick of reading Amish books lately! :)

ReplyDeleteI love Debbie Macomber's Christmas books with the three angels, Shirley, Goodness and Mercy. Just downloaded the newest one "Angels At the Table. Seems like they are always getting in trouble but alls well that ends well.
