The Great Winter Funk

Have been in a great funk....  You know- it is the downward swing from the Summer & August to Sept then Oct-Nov ending with Dec and the end of the year.  Less sun, short days, darkness & cold. Then add to that the family angst, sourness of futility.  Lovely, huh?
BUT today i went to Bend for the second day in a row as had to return a pair of snow pants that did NOT fit!  An XL in womens do NOT fit, but a large in men's do!!  the XL men's were way too big!  Managed to return said snow pants to TJ Max and got the fitting one's at the Columbia Sportswear at the Outlet Mall. So they were half price, thank heavens.  Trying to get outfitted for snow shoeing :)  yes, i am still going to DO that, on my bucket list....  So now i have everything, maybe some gloves???  Don't know, will go to the class and see if i got the right things and what else i need, shoulkd not be much else...
It was snowing in Bend, but as you head North to Redmond, no snow.  Weird, huh?  South you get LOTS of snow, North, hardly anything, should be the opposite, except you are going down hilll, lower elevation in Redmond. But it is cold... Really windy last night, the wind chimes were just going like crazy....but the wind is what would keep waking me.... Also got the hair done today, which is always uplifting, i sure get wooly looking and shaggy after a couple weeks and it feels nice to do something for oneself.
Went out to lunch at Olive Garden with two friends, it was a nice day.  Got the new Stampin' Up Spring Catalog. That is always fun to go thru. We sat there at lunch and did that.
Tomorrow going to bake some cookies to share with neighbors.... Christmas Cheer!!!!
Hope all is well with everyone, Take Care & God Bless

  1. Maybe you are like me--I miss seeing the sun in the winter. These short days bother me. I take supplemental vitamin D3, but it still feels good to actually be out in the sun. After we moved to rainy Washington from sunny southern California, the first ten years or so the winter gloominess didn't bother me, but now it does. What's up with that? ;)

  4. It is the lack of sun light for me. Yesterday was the big storm and dark all day with howling winds. Today, cold cold cold, bt lots of sun. Yeah! Snow-shoeing...go for it! Wish I could go with you. Not on my bucket list but so far I have enjoyed helping you cut yours down!

  5. I so agree - this winter stuff (even here in AZ) has me down. Short, short days, lots of wind and cold (for here). I want more spring and fall. Pictures when you go snowshoeing, please

  7. I'm such an optimist it's disgusting, but even I have been wondering why I don't want to DO anything. I'm not unhappy, I laugh out loud when I'm reading or watching TV and something funny happens, but still... something is missing.

I thought last night, maybe I'm a little down in the dumps. Maybe it IS the early darkness and also the cold. If that's all it is, things should be picking up soon. :)

  10. Tonight's the longest night of the year. Days start getting longer tomorrow. I'm really glad about that. Even though I'm able to spend the winter in a warmer place, the short days still bother me. Bring on the SUN!
