Sadness

Found out today that my ex sister-in-law,  with whom i have a friendly relationship thank heavens, has colon cancer. Spent the afternoon at the hospital with her mother, awaiting surgery results. This has come upon us rather suddenly altho at times she did not appear to be in the best of health. So, this is a surprise.
I am asking for prayers for ease with her infirmity.
She has had many challenges in her life, not the least of which was being married to my brother! 
Her children are on their way to Redmond to be with her from Washington and Southern California. I would only wish her well and so wish she could spend more time with her three beautiful grandbabies.

Queen Anne's Lace

 I don't care what they are, that is what we used to call them when i was little, so that is what they are!  AND i know they are probably a weed!  But still i love them and have all kinds of pictures of them from different angles.  Even laid on my back and took one looking up thru the bottom at one time.  They can look so different at different times.  I did a couple of them once in really neat old timey looking frames for Mom, the flowers even looked pink in the light.

 The buds look weird: like from outer space, then they spread out in glorius lacey  flowers.
Have been working on the yard.  Think the lawn mower broke, Just all of a sudden went down really low to the ground and was REALLY chopping the weeds low, was in the front yard, where there is not much going on right now but dust & weeds.. So to chop them super low was not such a bad thing, but for the back yard will have to get a fix figured out.
Am chunking out tree roots in the back yard with an ax, that is slow going, chunk then sit in the sun for awhile, recuperate and drink tea :)  Such is life in Redmond right now.

Back Home

 Got Luci back, Janmarie held her & Luci cried, howled & whimpered all the way to McMinnville. About 45 min!!! She had to tell us how horrific her trip & stay at Doggie Camp had been.  Am Back home now and she is holed up in her bed by my chair.

It was a lovely drive home.  All the traffic was heading West not East. Sure glad i was NOT in that line!!
This is Big Cliff Dam & the Santiam River.  Green, Green every where.
Good to be home!!!

Waves, Steps & Rocks

 LOVE sitting & taking pictures of waves.  Will i ever get the perfect one?
AND this house? Don't think i would really care to go & down those stairs everytime i wanted a walk on the beach!! Nice house tho, wonder if they think they are protected from erosion by being up so high?  Good view tho!!

 Forgot to memorize which rocks these are, 'think' it is the Siletz River but not sure!! Always trying to get the perfect picture of them too.  This is at the south end of Lincoln City.
Went to get Luci today, to go for a walk & little drive. She was beyond excited, crying/whining/barking to tell me what for & THIS was NOT acceptable.  I agree, it is not! Can't wait to get her back for good tomorrow morning!!  Take Care All!!

The BEACH!!

Our toes in the sand. Probably only time i will get Janmarie ON the beach & we got to drive right down onto the beach too. No walking :) She is a more sit in the room and gaze out upon the waters. Where i like to get down & dirty, but will have to do that by myself.

Checked on Luci 'n she was hiding in the doghouse but had 4 little friends in there with her. BUT she was getting along good, so that is a good thing.
Went shopping at the outlet mall and got a couple of good things/buys in clothing.

At the Beach!!

Well, had a day of errands for Janmarie this morning and finally got over here about 3p.  Discovered yesterday that the condo did not allow dogs, so had to call vet and scramble around to get shot record and get the kennel cough shot updated, Yes LUCI is at a kennel. Looks to be  nice one, but this is the 1st time for her and ME and boy it was traumatic. She kept looking at me, like WHAT???

Did take her for a walk on the beach 1st tho. Although don't know if she appreciated that, i did! And tomorrow going to pick her up and love on her and take another beach walk.  Going to have to have her leash pried out of my hands tho to leave her again.  So much of our life is wrapped up in them and their needs and wants, it is really quiet tonight and no reason to get out of the chair or go outside :(

Drive to McMinnville

 Boy there was all kinds of weather that i ran into today!! This was on top of the Santiam Pass!

 Then it POURED in Detroit, just pounding rain, the reservoir is really full. Lots of water there. Lots of traffic coming to Central Oregon, RV's and campers, boats, one right after the other.
then once over here in 'the valley' there is blooming going on all over the place.
The new green on the mountain needs to be mentioned too, it was just beyond beautiful.

These Iris were in someone's yard. near the edge. I stopped and just snapped away.
The rhoddies too, just stopped and pointed the camera out the window!!!

Cousin John

My Cousin John came to see me, he lives in San Antonio. Left Saturday arrived in Redmond this afternoon!!!   We had a really nice visit & my family got to meet him! It was a really, really nice time!!

THESE are the trees i want to know what they are, i KNOW guys that those white bark trees are Aspen!!  I wanted to know what the tree with the red blooms are... in the blog before the one before the last one.... that does not make sense does it??

Uh-Oh

Luci is in the proverbial dog house as she tipped over Brian's laundry basket, then chewed up a pair of shorts and a tee-shirt.  He is storming mad, she does not know what is going on. Don't know how she got in there, maybe when i was taking a shower this morning? He STILL does not think he needs to protect his clothes or close his door, that she should stay out and KNOW not to get into his things.  She does stay out when he is home, will stand at the doorjamb and longingly gaze in there, feebly wagging her tail. So wants to be friends but keeps doing these unforgivable things, sigh.......
Love me Love my dog!!!!

Ramblings

These trees are at a little farm in the next block. One of the nice things about the neighborhood, is that it is a neighborhood, but also just down the block is not really developed yet and has some little farmettes, no sidewalks, narrow one lane street, it is like walking in the country at times.  A block over there are a couple of houses that are abandoned. And 3 large undeveloped lots. Even a dirt road connecting two blocks, which the dogs are over eager to walk along!
Hey does anyone know what the tree is in my prior post that has the red blooms on it and maple like leaves.  I call it a Hawthorne tree as they had them in front of Hawthorne Grade School that Brian went to in Pendleton when we lived there for 6 months in 1978. Which can't really be right. right?
Memorial Day weekend is coming up FAST.  I am going to Lincoln City with my McMinnville friend & her neighbor. Leave Thursday.  That should be fun &  something different. Dropped the laptop on my left foot yesterday, you should see my toes now!!  Going to be black i am sure! AND Wednesday going to foot doctor to try to get my old broken toe on right foot fixed. Maybe i won't be able to walk!!  Hope i can drive.
Going to stop Thursday and see my cousin too!!

Yesterday Dump Run

 Three Sisters from the dump yesterday. Even the dump has a GREAT view! Tumalo Butte in the foreground.

 Great old barn on the way to the dump. the house is even in worse shape. Don't think anyone living there. There are sub divisions  around this area & i suppose eventually it will succumb to progress, Really would be too bad.... Doesn't it look well made tho!!  Good roof..

 Rock crib and irrigation ditch in field near the barn, in the far distance is Mt Jefferson, but due to haze can't see it too good.

Think the house looks much better w/o those awful cedar bushes on the end of the house.  Lilacs are still in full bloom.  Have got the area between the sidewalk and curb pretty much a desert. All weed free.  going to put in river rock and some sort of bushes and flowers, eventually, it is a BIG area to address. Now just have to rototill the yard, make it ready for grass... want garden things at the end of the house, not grass... cut down on mowing area.  Put in herbs and rhubarb.  Want to run a fence of some sort along the sidewalk to keep people from walking there. don't know why that bothers me, but it does.... Then i can have more bushes and flowers and not worry about them being trampled.  BIG plans, but eventually.....

Thursday

Thursday got up at the unGodly hour or 6am to leave at 7am for 'the valley' went over the Santiam, lovely greenness over there.
A friend i used to work with, Jane and i needed some shopping therapy!
The Container Store has things you don't even know you need!

Then we took the 205 to Clackamas Town Center, stopped at Catherine's. Was dissappointed. This is like the  2nd time i have been there and they have 'old lady' clothes, you know the kind, nylon blouses and spandex pants with elastic waists.  Maybe i am getting to where i don't NEED to wear those clothes any longer :).  Then more 205 to Ikea. Jane had never been there, we walked and walked and walked.  Then to the Avenue, finally found some jean capris!!! then on over Mt Hood back to Redmond.  Made a BIG circle..  the hills and the plains of Warm Springs were getting green too and the buck brush/ rabbit brush was bloomin'
BUT these were the only pictures taken.
Friday brother Jerry sil Rita came over and took down the little metal shed in the backyard and cut down some limbs on the HUGE fir tree and the two cedar type bushes on the end of the house that were ugly and overgrown and not been taken care of.  Trimmed back, wanted to start a fresh  in that area of the yard, EXCEPT for the lilac bushes, those will remain untouched!!!!
So a busy two days.  My back screamed the whole time. think am going to have to go back to the doctor and find out what goes there :(

Sleeping Beauty

 Isn't she just a sweet little hussy?? Complete sleeping abandon.  She knows how to take her leisure.  Did not even crack an eye when i came in.

 The white lilacs are blooming now.
Today went to Madras as had to have face to face talk with the brother regarding more family drama, does it never end?
He started up the RV and it started right up, even had the generator going!! But BOY does it need a thorough cleaning!!! Dusty, dusty, dusty, but don't know what else i expect when it is sitting in a part of the field with dirt all around! Tried 'the solution' on a little corner and it looked ok, but really think it needs a GOOD wash first.
The leaves in the backyard trees are really lovely!! Shade. But tell me that in October :)  The Solution worked really well on the Element!!

LOOK!!

 Look, what Brian got me for Mother's Day!!  A weeping crabapple!!  I am excited.  Got to go to the nursery and look at all kinds of trees. He choose just the right one, loaded it in the Element. Saw other trees i want to get too, can't wait...

Got home and he planted it, just right away.  Got soil to amend.   Has a little barrier all around it.  Have to water it everyday ... Not to sure if this is just the right place, but he wanted it where i could see it and see birds fly onto it, whilst i am sitting in my chair in the living room.  :)
Also included a recent photo of Carl for all to see. he is in fine fettle... i put up one of those little wire fences in the back yard to keep him out of my iris bed and everyday now, i have had to put it back up, he just barrels right thru the thing,  can't jump over you know and appears to get confused when he realizes he is behind it...GEEZ!!!!

Blog2Book

Well i happened to mention one time that i wanted to book form my blog and Jim & Sandie from "Where are the Dixons?" commented and told me about blog2book, so i tried it! and it is a neat-o site, it was really easy and the book was here within a week!!! I  got a soft cover and it is 162 pages long!! I used certain dates Aug 2010 to April 2011 as those were the dates i was on the road with the RV, for my book.
I had tried another website b4 this and it was apparently too complicated or i was not in the mood that day, whatever, it did not work, could not understand the steps, whatever!!!  But this site was really easy.  Could even edit out dates after i had it started that i did not feel was relevant to the whole story...  The book really looks cool.  The pictures don't come out of the size from the size, as they try to get things condensed and fit the words in. In some places the pictures don't match the wording as it was in the blog, but over all i really like it and think people will enjoy looking at it over time. Anyway one can only hope... Oh and it cost about $60 after shipping, which i thought was quite alot, really, BUT figured, it was not like i was going to be doing this every day, sooooo.
Have to get going as have another doc appt today, just yearly check up things. And going in to Bend to visit a friend and get some stamping supplies i ordered, FUN!!!!
Oh, yesterday i met with a nutritionist and i am losing lean muscle more than i should right along with the fat, not enough protein, was worried about that, so have to make some drastic adjustments to the diet and supplement thing, geez, BUT i was well hydrated, so that is a GOOD thing, was worried was not getting enough water.

Greenhouse

 Went to Redmond Greenhouse today as needed to know what the tree was that that i saw & want to get.  It is a choke cherry, smells good too!
They had many things.. good and wondrous.  The owner Doug Stott used to do little spots on TV about gardening in Central Oregon.

  This is like mom's lenten rose. This plant has some sort of bloom all Spring and Summer.  Got carried away looking at all the lovely things.

Heat ON!!

 Had to turn UP the heat, again!! Put on flannel jammies, jacket and fuzzy, heavy socks. the weather took a dump today for sure.  There was one little window of time, where i mowed the lawn & weeded and it was comfortable out there.
These are the trees in the back with their newly minted leaves. Such a pretty color.

 LOOK!!  the lilacs are bloomin'!!!  It makes me happy. Also u can see Carl and Luci little butt out the left of the frame, she moved too fast :)  And Brian wants to cut these down, NOT while i live and breathe!!

 They are SO beautiful. My dream was to carry lilacs when i got married.  that never came to pass.  They are just so fragrant and pretty. Just love them.  Also have a white one just to the right of this one, but it is taking longer to come out.

 These were at the church this morning, it is a TREE!!  I want one! But don't know what it is! At the church for bible study.

This is by the church too, also want one of these. It is a bush, don't know what this is either.
Had a productive day, those are always good days. Also went to a Bariatric Support Group meeting.  Those are always fun or at least informative.  It is nice to meet with and talk to people going thru the same thing.
So accomplished something (lawn mowing & weeding) and had interaction with people of my age and demographics.
