I'm OK, I'm OK

Such a worrisome week it was.  The blood tests for TB came back positive, so I had to have a chest x-ray.  The whole time I am worrying about infecting people, is it active/latent and HOW in the world did I pick this up? You are waiting for doctor to call with blood tests results, carrying the phone around with you all the time to NOT miss it, then waiting for the x-ray to be read.  This time the doctor was faster and the same day I got results and made a follow-up appointment for this morning.  The chest x-ray was clear and I have no symptoms, like the coughing or night sweats. So I was NOT active...have not been infecting everyone I came into contact with.  THAT was a BIG relief.  Just have to have a chest x-ray yearly to make sure things don't change or if I get any symptoms go to doctor right away. The x-ray also showed the pleurisy that was diagnosed by the hospital ER was gone...  I have not had to have any pain meds for 4 days now.. good, good... no chest pain and the pain in the upper back/shoulders is also gone.. good, good.
BUT I got to thinking about that lower back pain while at the beach and made them take a urine sample and sure enough I have a bladder infection, yet again!!!!  BUT that is easy to treat and get rid of, but would like to know why I keep getting those!!!  Yes, I am and DO drink LOTS of water.....
This evening after taking the antibiotics I felt downright chipper!!!!
So, I am well on the road to recovery and this month is well behind me, not that I am wishing time or my life away, but I can think of much better ways for it to be spent!!!!
And let us hope that I can find anything else of more interest than this to blog about in the future!
Take Care All & God Bless...   good health to you all!!!!

  2. I was exposed to TB many years ago and tested positive. At that time they had a six month preventative drug treatment I had to take. I didn't have TB but this was to make sure I didn't develop it. However, the medication could destroy your liver so had to have blood tests every couple of weeks. And the medication also put you to sleep. Gee what fun when I'm trying to work. So I'm glad to hear that the only thin you need are chest x-rays each year. Wonder if cranberry juice would help with those bladder infections.

  4. Glad things are looking up for you Loree. Yes, try the cranberry juice. It even works for dogs!! Our Poppy is prone to bladder infections due to her diabetes and she takes a cranberry supplement every day. She hasn't had an infection since the vet started her on the supplements!

  5. I too, years ago while working in a large hospital, was exposed to TB, and also had to take pills. I also had to have xrays now instead of the scratch test. glad all is well with you now.

  7. whew, glad to hear you are feeling better and out of pain. What a scary bunch of stuff you have been dealing with. I know you said that sometimes you get depressed, but I am really impressed with how you put one foot after the other and manage to show some cheery stuff in the midst of all of it. Congratulations and honors to YOU, dear Loree!

  8. I had the same TB test result that Sandie did and went on that drug. It wasn't bad and that's when I learned to like non-alcoholic beer! I was told to never let anyone give me the skin test for TB again - what a reaction I had to it, which started the whole thing. Glad you're ok.

  9. That is great news. And those pexky infections I get them all the time too. Dr. can't figure it out either. i may try those supplements Donna spoke of. Couldn't hurt. As long as I don't start to bark.
