Squash

Cooked the squash that I grew, came up as a volunteer, in my yard!!  It was good!!  Took it out in the back yard and took the ax to it!!!  It was big as a basketball.  It broke into 3 parts, had to use two pans to get it in the oven.  Took out the seeds, not very many and just popped it like that into the oven, skin and all and baked on 350 for bout 1 1/2 hours.... It was light green with a bumpy skin and tasted a bit less intense than an acorn squash.   There was a picture of it in on a prior blog, hidden in the leaves.  Only grew the ONC squash,  all those leaves and vines and ONE squash!!!  Not very cost effective, BUT I am getting TONS of squash off of it!!!  Will be eating it for a long time  :)  Brian does not eat squash....
squash, such a funny word.. say it four times in a row, go ahead, I know you want to do it.... squash, squash, squash, squash!!!!  sounds funny, feels funny even saying it....
Have a squashingly great day and week-end!!

  1. We had Acorn squash(store bought) last night it was sure good, but it was a small one. I cut it in half, put it"meat side" down in a corning ware dish add a tiny bit of water and cooked it on high for 4 minutes. We add a little brown sugar and butter.. so good.

  2. I'm so glad it was good tasting. A big squash can be used so many ways, you'll be looking on-line for more squash recipes, I'll bet. :)

  5. Mmmmmm, love squash soup! Cooked squash, some potatoes, carrots, leeks salt pepper and a little allspice. Top with a dab of plain Greek yogurt or sour cream.

  6. I think cooked squash is one of the best things about fall. We like ours seasoned with s/p and a little pure maple syrup.

  8. Lol at "you know you want to". Squash is a funny word. Good thing the monster didn't rise up and squash you when you came at it with that ax
