Gotta Go!

From Luci.....

gotta go, gotta go, gotta go..... I'll just sit here by the door and see what happens........ nothing...????  What the  ??..... bark.... bark.  .BARKBARK... open the door!!  will 'ya???  oh, oh  OK... good....  she is getting up, she is coming.....whoa is it STILL white out there?  NOW it is wet....  wet, wet, wet.. should I?  will I?  ok,ok, OK I'll go out, wanted too, still need to... why all this white stuff?  where to go, where to go, where to go... (while walking about, swinging head here and there, looking, looking) tips toe in the snow,  oh, it is cold- no, no  NO.. won't go there, where to go??  where to go??  is there no bare place?  wet, wet..... on the sidewalk,  where is there dry ?......  will walk here, huh.... no...no... too wet.. tippy toe here and there, (looks to the door)  is she there, watching me?  that's ok, don't want her to leave, don't want to get wet... is there any place else.....  ?  No? well let's go down the sidewalk a way.. no, nothing here, nothing here, no smells, this white stuff is COLD on my feet (holds up a paw, looks around) let's go over here... no, no, no this won't work..... well, if I HAVE to, I have to.... gotta go, gotta go (now she is in a frenzy, darting, tip toe here and there, lift another paw.. finally out just at the edge of the sidewalk, in the wet, spotty snow.. feat accomplished, runs to the door, looks up to see if I am there)  hurry, hurry, let me in, let me in, can't you tell it is cold and WET
(had I not been watching she would have barked and whined, REALLY loudly.. how can she be so loud?)
circling, circling..do I  get a cookie this time???  Huh, huh??? come on.....

(we go thru this...  how many times a day.... untold numbers....  Carl- he just goes out and does his business... since the snow is half as high as yesterday he is bounding out into it now to other parts of the yard that are his favorite and not staying right near the house.  guess the coldness affects him.. the wet, not so much.. he is a guy and not prissy at all.. gotta go, just does.  so better be watching for him or he will take liberties IN the house.. altho he has NEVER done this in front of me.. know it is not Luci as she can't lift her leg that high  :)  that would be a sight.... disgusting post, huh?  )

  2. I can just see her doing this. Skittlez is like that even when there's no snow. Sometimes she drives me crazy.

  4. I laughed too and could just picture the scene. My last two dogs have been big ones with lots of fur, including an undercoat, and they loved the snow. I can see how a poor little thing would hate it.

  6. You are a very good writer! Each sentence was a great memory producer, bringing back all the past dogs and snow stories. Thanks so much for sharing the "gotta go" stories with us!

  7. Funny, Loree! We're going through much the same thing over here in Eugene. Out ice and snow is slowly melting, so the dogs don't fall through the crust on the top of the snow. They sure enjoyed running and playing in it yesterday. Today it's melting even more, and there are green patches showing in the yard. Now they can track critters, and they have enjoyed doing that, for sure! Now I need to get out there and track down the things I need to clean up in the yard!;))

  8. We actually shoveled a spot in the snow down to the grass and a little path to get to it. Talk about the dogs running the show, that's it. But great memories just the same.

  9. I loved this, Loree, and like everyone else, laughed all the way through. I guess you have to have experienced a dog in the snow to really get it, although your writing was spot on. Loved it.
