..A Lot Done

Got a lot done today.  Took Brian to get his taxes done.  Tried to have him get them done at a tax place and they wanted $175!!  Geez, he only has his unemployment for a couple months, then one employer, how hard can that be?  I used to do them..  :) then messed up a couple years as did not 'get' the earned tax credit thing for low income....  Took the dogs and waited in the car, they then thought they had gone somewhere and were happy, altho Carl cried the whole time Brian was in the building...  geez, that really brings it home that I am not enough for him and completely superfluous...haha
Then paid some bills.  Went thru my file drawer and got a whole huge garbage bag of 'stuff' I deemed no longer needed...  Tax returns back to the early '90's....  warranties on things I no longer have... Have to take it all to my brother's place in Madras and burn it all.  It just seems like such a major thing when I do this, like it takes forever to do or just keep putting it off, until the drawer is so full, not ONE more thing can be crammed in there!  But have such a feeling of accomplishment.  But worry that am getting rid of something that just next week I am going to need  :)
Got rid of magazines.... after re-reading them.. I have a real problem with getting magazines, when I think of all the money I spend on them!!  It is absolutely ONE of the stupidest things I do!!! I do recycle them tho, some to the hospital, some to friends and some to the local quilt store.
Made a crock pot, pork chop/rice concoction that turned out horrid.. my cooking abilities are really going downhill.. get tired of the same things day and week after week, so try 'new' things and many/most do not turn out just quite right... my, my- maybe I should just stay with tried and true and grin and bear it. But  know there is a way to eat more healthy without all the processed crap....
Been on the computer a lot too as trying to find something that I saw once and did not save it, then had to try to figure out where I saw it to get it back and saved, geez, why did I just not do it when I 1st saw it!!!  Guess I was so sure I would remember, like would ever happen....

Take Care All
Oh, and weather wise it was 50 today!! and the sun even shined for  a bit...  but supposed to be raining tomorrow.. like a lot.. we will see.....

  1. I take my magazines to my local library when I'm finished with them, and I know the librarians love them. They set them aside to read (and no doubt pass around) before they give them to the Friends of the Library for their book sales.

  3. You DID have a busy day! Our Ari girl cries while Jim is painting the living room & not paying attention to her. Yes, she is attached to him at the hip. Ear skritches--that's Mom. Boy, accumulating stuff...it's a challenge for me. We have a place outside where Jim burns papers which makes it easier. I found a web site once that stated how long you had to keep certain documents--google it. It's really nice to know. Glad to hear your temps have warmed up--rain? You may need it. Have a good day!

  4. No need to burn records if you do not want to.....in Davneport, the canned trash is never handled by a human and ergo, it is pretty safe just to throw old records in the trash. Only recyclables are handled by humans.

  5. I'd rather spend $60 for Turo tax and do it myself. They walk you right through it and ask you questions, then you submit it on line and it's done. Easy!! $175 sound ridiculous. The papers in life just seem to grow constantly. I too am always worried when I throw them out that in a minute I'll need it.

  6. It's too late for this year but next year try Tax Act. I use it every year for the returns I do. And it is sooooo easy. Only cost $18 to do both state (if you have one) and Federal. Can I say again - it is sooooo easy. Walks you through everything and figures it all for you including the Earned Income Credit. All you have to do is enter the info.

  7. You're a brave woman to both cook new recipes and have your son living with you! When I tried that the food was never good enough for his tastes.

  8. Loree, I feel the same way about magazines. Every time I get rid of a bunch of old ones, it seems that they are replaced with some new ones. Birds and Blooms is our current favorite, I think.

You could vary your menu like we do. Sometimes we have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, some times tuna, and sometimes, hot dogs! LOL
