Well...

I ruined both my knees in yoga yesterday,  the outward edge of the patella, popped in both of them!  Not only did I do it once, but then had to do the other side too!!  I did finish the class for the day tho, don't know if that was good or not.  So today am sitting with ice packs on both knees and feeling sorry for myself....  does this mean I can't do yoga???  and I was doing so well, I thought...  but apparently my knees are weak????
Have not been to the doctor... am sure there is nothing broken as I can still hobble about, just a little hard to move in certain ways and boy you learn what those are and DON'T do that  :)
Am sure I will survive.....  eventually...
Take Care All

  1. I'd wait for a while before trying yoga again. Probably sticking to warm up exercises is better for you. What a disappointment! I'm missing the gym so much, and I know how you must feel, but please take it slowly. Best of luck.

  2. Gypsy's absolutely right. Take it easy for awhile. Warm wishes for a speedy recovery!

  3. Your patella is nothing to aggravate so rest! You have some hiking to do later this year. Slow and steady.

  4. I think resting those knees is pretty essential right now. Hopefully all will be well again and you can move in all directions.

  5. Frustrating when you get injured while doing something you enjoy. If you want to do yoga again, maybe talk to the instructor and she can tell you what to avoid. I suppose you can sit out one or two poses or do something different.

  7. What pose were you doing when it happened?? Rest and when you return, make sure the room is warm, maybe even very warm in why h you are ora to ing. That can make all the difference in ease especially for an older body. Hope you told the instructor. So sorry to glhear this. I have done yoga for years and love it.

  8. Try doing the sleeping dog position...lying on your back with feet propped up on the couch, and arms curled loosely in the air. I'm sure that Carl or Luci would be happy to demonstrate for you. Very relaxing, and lots better than the stork position, or the full lotus position.
