Gas

We got gas for $1.67 and consistently for $l.79 to $1.89... in the Midwest,  $2.45 and felt we were being gouged in a small place in Iowa on the way home, but had to get gas, so there you are... It was cold getting your own gas and one place must have had a spill as we smelled of gas for some miles before that smell went away.  Could do a whole blog on finding places to relieve oneself while on the road,  rest stops are the best and most clean, while u take your chances at the gas stations and fast food places!!! And the BEST was the Lincoln Memorial Rest Stop in Wyoming!  And once you get off the Interstate, we took Hwy 30 from Little America (which was GREAT) to Pocatella there were none!!! Unless you stopped at the gas stations.  Until we got back on the Interstate system again on 86 over to 84!!!  Then got off again to 26 over to Redmond there were NOT even any OPEN gas stations until we hit Prineville.  There was Clyde Holliday State Park that had an open rest stop late at night - 9pm, which was not very late, really....

  1. Under $1.75 is amazing for gas. Ours is way low but not that low yet. . I just don't think it willl last. One of the very best things about driving an RV is the any time bathroom. LOL

  2. Ha! I think I'll be going to the blog fest in Quartzsite this afternoon, and my only concern is finding a bathroom where everyone is boondocking. It's a two hour drive one way and I'm only taking the car. ;)

  3. I rarely travel the interstate and it's hard for me to remember how the bathroom situation is across the country. I don't drive for all that long at one time, so I guess I can make it to where I get gas, or to that night's motel or camp site. Of all the interstate rest stops, I think Texas (I-40) have the best. I can remember once being on a desolate road in Montana and stopped the car to let my dog Lady relieve herself; I ended up doing the same, just praying that no cars would come along, but as I had great visibility for miles either way, I could have salvaged my dignity in time!

  4. I have to agree with Sherry, Loree, I love that anytime bathroom, sooooo spoiled. I keep wondering when the shoe will drop on those gas prices, but it sure was nice for our last trip.

  5. Gas prices never rests! It might even be changing now as I’m posting this comment. As for the gas smell, it must’ve been quite a nasty one, since you could still smell it from that far away. If that was the case, that’s quite sad, both for the place that suffered because of the spill, and the wasted oil itself. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us, Luci. Take care!
