Little Brown

Yesterday "we" watched little Juniper while the parents and older siblings built a fence. AND I use the term 'we' very loosely as she would have nothing to do with me, and looked at me very suspect, like I had REALLY done something??? whatever, wrong!!!! and wanted her DD and NOT me.... Don't think I am quite that unloveable... haha but she sure did!!!
At last we got to miss the fence building :)

This was the cutest little church, had a long and varied history and was well loved and very well kept, there was a gentleman in there tuning the piano when we were there....
It is in the town of Nashua, Iowa, NorthEastern corner....
Stopped there on the way to Mall of America , Wednesday 4-13-16

There is even a song written about it, remember Mom singing it!!! (my Mother was a fine/wonderful contralto.. studied music two years at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Brian has many fine/special memories of mom singing.. don't know if the other grandchildren remember that much of her, he was with her much longer.  JeriMay the younger one may remember as she lived with Mom & Dad for awhile and she went to church with her on a regular basis.. So wish I had a recording of her singing.  It is one of those things you take for granted and think will be there forever. And it is even if just in our memories and in our souls)
Take Care all

  1. Thanks so much for the comment Loree. I'm glad to hear from someone who actually enjoys my detailed posts. Some folks like to feel like they are there with me and others, think my posts are too long and too many pictures. Good to see you there again. I too had a very musical mother who could play anything on the piano and had a lovely contralto voice. I am so sorry I didn't take a movie of her playing and singing. Like you, I took it so for granted. It was just part of my life and something that was always there. I would love to see a movie of her now although I'd cry my eyes out.

  2. My aunt and uncle got married at The Little Brown Church. Did you go through my hometown of Osage, Iowa? It is located at the junction of Highways 218 and 9.
