Hmmm

I don't know which day this was, 2nd??
realized i ad not shown pics of Twin Rocks.  This is straight out our front door!!! Lovely, heh?
The scotch broom was blooming (that is what my grandma called it, don't know if right or not).  It is pretty, but stinks horribly.

wild sweet peas

AND i am always trying to get the perfect picture of the rocks, over the years i have gotten some good ones, It is really hard to get a bad shot of them..

And here we are at top of Nee-A-Kah-Nee Mtn.
RIGHT here, just the day we got here, a student from Corvallis stepped OVER the rock wall to get a better picture and FELL, she got caught on a tree about halfway down and did not fall INTO the ocean, but her injuries were too bad and she later passed away in the hospital.
So very sad.  it would never occur to me, to STEP over that barrier, especially with that HUGE drop off... Really???
The waves were really BIG that day we were there, it was windy.  That is Manzanita Beach in  view.

I have a picture of my mom and me at 6 mos old, sitting on the front of the car we had at the time right smack in front of this rock!!!

Then when we go to beach also have to go out to the 'bar' and watch the waves or boats and if you are really lucky you get to the coast guard saving stupid people who go out in the rough weather in little boats and should not be out there.  This day there were no boats, just HUGE waves, mainly hitting on the opposite jetty.
We used to go out here when rocks were up as tall as those posts out there... there was a framework all along to keep the rocks in place, BUT the power of the ocean.... but that was back when Brian was a teenager.... and he will be 49 this month, yee Gods, how in the world did that happen??
AND before the jetty was built this was all sand and about a quarter mile of driftwood, solid on the shore, you had to make your way over all the driftwood to get to the beach, it was exciting....

And peoples lilies were blooming, love them...

Take Care and God Bless

  1. The power of water is mesmerizing. I wouldn't climb over the barrier either. No picture is worth it.

  2. What a nice blog you have! I do not recall seeing it before but I will be back to catch up. I loved the Pacific Coast when I worked in Washington from 2002 to 2007. Very good picture composition you have done. Thanks for letting us see the views. They bring back some nice memories.
