Navarre Pier

Looks like snow doesn't it? But it's not!!

It was foggy and somewhat rainy, no shells, blowing wind, but not really that cold. Look at all the little surfers, sitting there watching the waves. Bet they were a little cooler. Their little hands and feet looked red, they had wetsuits covering the rest of them. It is weird how much the Gulf changes from day to day depending on the weather. The wave pattern or absence of waves at all on calm days. Keep comparing it to what I know of the Pacific and it is so very different.
This pier was just redone and reopened on June 5th this year, so is a very nice, sturdy pier!
I like the analogy of the hour glass from 'Janie & John' Always thought at the end the sands started rushing out but good to know they all go at the same speed, beginning to end.
Have to share Luci's disgusting habit. She chews the crotches out of pants and underwear!!! Yes, she does! and very sneaky about it too!! Now, at home I have had time to bar this behavior and found what works is to just keep things picked up!! One would think that was easy, no? W-e-l-l let me tell you so far I have lost 3 panties and a pair of shorts. Last night she got my fav, heinously expensive, go to outfit, my camo capris....I am still upset and don't think right now she is the cutest thing to walk the earth. Of course she doesn't remember my scathing tone and meanness of last night, I am still mourning my capris!!!! She got them out of the little, tiny bathroom, off the TOP of the pile of dirty clothes. I apparently forgot to close the door or shove them to the back of the pile. THEN she had to lay there, quietly, and chew them while I was blithely watching TV and crocheting. AND when I discovered her dastardly deed I actually considered how I could still wear them! or fix them!!! Right! the crotch is gone!!!
So how do you sustain a mad at someone or something that just does not understand the depth or your despair???
Take Care and God Bless all..... am sure I will survive this setback :)

Ummm

Somehow I lost a day, honestly thought this was Wednesday. Wonder how many days I have forgotten my meds? :) So tomorrow is Friday and the last day of the year. Another year. How does it happen that they seem to speed up, go away, pass by. Lost forever. Just shows you should do today, now, what you really want to do. The opportunity could be lost in regrets and 'what ifs'.

This picture is so obviously NOT taken recently, but I felt a little like Spring. Have been watching an Australian Series on tape and crocheting, taking Luci for walks. We had humidity and a little rain/fog/clouds, BUT 58 so can't complain or whine about the cold. Think maybe I should not say anything about the weather as that seems to be all I talk about, maybe that is the only thing happening in my life??? Maybe

Late Start

Well!!! I did not get up until 10am. Can't believe it, so I took Luci out, shortly. She is getting good about doing her 'thing' real fast in the mornings. Fixed breakfast while watching my fav, the View! Shower not even taken. Am really getting slothful. Want to get to the beach, have to go for some groceries, out of toilet paper, rather a necessity, eggs and mayo. So better get at it! Weather has taken a turn for the better. Almost balmy out there. And, yes, I realize my whining about 30 degree temps compared to the Far Northern neighbors, it just that, whining!!!!

Took my Sister/friend to the airport at 1:30p, so am alone again. We had a good time, stayed warm, had a good day at the beach and she was happy with what she saw. So, think the trip for her was a success and for me too!!! To have someone
here visiting with. We got WAY too much food and will take me forever to eat it all, if I ever do, BUT we always do that, like we are starving or soon will :) It was a different Christmas, but a good one nonetheless...
Hope you all had a good one too!

The Day After

A good day was had by all. Once again the dinner at the clubhouse was wonderful, if I must say. Eating, talking, laughing. Phone calls and texts from relatives in Oregon. Everyone sounded happy and jovial.
Last night we about got blown away!!! The wind, the wind, oh my gosh..It is still going on. We are a rockin and a rollin in the RV. The awning is up, of course, so all is well, but my wind chime is about chimed out, the poor thing.
Luci goes out, does her thing and wants back in right now! Don't you know.
The walk to the shower is a lesson in fortitude!!! But it certainly wakes a person right up!!!
The propane started blowing cold air yesterday afternoon, why can I not get that figured out? So the little heater has been pulled into action and has performed admirably let me tell you, we bundled as much as possible too!! Hopefully the office is open today for refills :)
Hope you all have a wonderful day in the waning times of 2010.
Take care and God Bless!!!!

Good Gravy!

Merry Christmas All!!!

I found the remote controls for the little flat screen TV and DVD player I got in Iowa to watch DVD's on!!! they have been lost since way before I left Iowa! They were in the basket where I have all my maps! When got things out of there to plan the next part of the journey, there they were, in the bottom. Do you think I put them there? Did they fall there??? Will I ever know? Do I really care now that I found them?? I am happy!
Take Care and God Bless
Oh, it was a stellar day today, but not a good shell day, beach was shorts and t-shirt nice. Just walked and walked. Sorry all you others gripped in the Winter Solstice :)

Christmas House

Someone's house near the Bay, all festive for the Holiday! Like the house and porch.

This was yesterday at the beach. Today got to the beach too late, tide was pretty much in and there was not really much there in the way of shells. The pretty blue colors are showing tho. Supposed to get to the 70's by Wednesday and they have been pretty right on with their forecasting. When I went down there had my shorts on! In the middle of December!!!! Now we're talking. Guy to the left of the RV helped me today with the water heater, which is just not staying on to heat. Don't use it really except for washing up and doing the dishes, BUT it is an inconvenience to not have it working and it should, work, you know. He looked at all the fuses, which appeared ok and tightened the fastenings and now it is coming on and heating, hope it keeps doing so, or it may be the regulator and be $150, (so says the guy two doors down who is having problems with his too) plus having to have someone come out to fix the thing :(
Thank you neighbor!!

Beautiful Day!!!

Well, it happened, was 'mining' for shells in up to my knees and fell down! Splat!!! Right on my butt. The fortunate thing is I had just taken off my hoodie and set the camera and keys inside it, up past the waterline. Then i just sat and laughed as the surf came up again and again. Of course in this rather close position saw all kinds of shells.By 'mining' what i mean is that i get into the surf. It moves the shells in and out just where it breaks on shore and moves the shells in and out, but there is always somewhat of a drop off and you have to watch to NOT get too close to this or you are going to go way in, more than expected. Also doubt by ability to claw myself back up that shelf onto more stable and shallow sand, BUT found all manner of shells today, It was most fun. If not a bit numbing. Not saying it was really cold, certainly not so by Oregon Pacific Coast standards!!! But was not the bathwater that I have been used to either. It is 56 out on the wheel well of the RV, where the weather monitor is, but warmer in the sun, surely. Clear blue skies, brought people out of their RV's to talk, discuss and walk the dogs for longer periods of time. But there is no one but me on the beach. And it was SO nice down there! A good day!!

Home Day

Finished another afghan, I am going to be floating in these pretty soon! Wanted one with big cabbage roses on it, don't know why, just pleased something within me, my latent Victorian tendencies one would imagine :)
Did a load of clothes, picked up things and found a place for them so they weren't laying about, cleaned, washed, apparently nested.... read, played ALOT of Solitaire Majong on the Kindle, yes, I can do that, imagine. Am trying to break the 36 minute mark and trying different layouts. Think it is good for my brain to do puzzle things. Who can Tell??? Hopefully the weather will change for the better soon.

City Park

In Navarre, Florida.
Merry Christmas from Navarre!!!

Take Care and God Bless one and all!!!

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Here i am, alive and well.. today was a grey day, but warm, note t-shirt! and a little humid. Really windy from the South and the Ocean was growly again, short beach and no shells. I could even go with some of those days. Went to the city park, right on the bay and walked with Luci, lots of birds and bird excrement, so i had to carry her in spots, nasty birds, weird looking duck like ones too! But it was fun going out on the pier. Got some good bridge pictures, but took 1/2 hour to upload one picture, so am not going to stretch my luck...
Got a package and lots of cards today, it was a GOOD mail day. I like those...

NOW!!

Now, I have lost the remote for the RV television up front!!! So am using the remote from the bedroom, now tonight will probably forget where that one is, as will leave it in here. Geez!!!
Yesterday took a bunch of pictures and the camera battery was dead, so no new pictures.
Had no hot water- the water heater was not lighting, well today it has warmed up considerably and it just started, Dave the RV tech I know, says it was more than likely due to the cold it was not used to, well I am not used to the cold either and don't work as well, so guess can't blame it for taking some time off, BUT now it is working, can hear it going off now and again, so have HOT water, yippee!!! Thought I needed more propane, yes, MORE, but that started this morning too, so, guess everything is a go!!!!
Needed to call Dave (in California) because was worried that I might need to run the RV motor or something, tend to the battery or just something, rather than to just let it sit for 3 mos and than expect it to start, but he says this is so, and it will. Have noticed that no one else ran their RV's or maybe I was missing something, but guess not :)
Today was haircut and pedicure day and they let Luci come in with me, as we were the only ones there, she was just thrilled!!! Just sat right by me, guarding I guess, she was a tad bit leery of all the goings on and was really upset when the hair lady came in while I was getting the pedi, would not let her come down the hallway or into the room, she had to talk to us from the front entry, hee-hee, love my dog, love me.....
My toes are beautiful!!!
God Bless All!!

Monday, December 13, 2010

These pictures are from yesterday, and one would assume it looked like that today too, as the wind, the wind, just goes on and on, and it is cold, BUT weatherman says that after tomorrow there is a warming trend- then I had to go, so don't know how warm or for how long!
Tonight was the monthly, no host, dinner at one of the nearby restaurants, East River Smokehouse. Let me tell you!!!! that was soooo good, the BBQ sauce! Wow!! had a tangy, spicy taste to it, had the ribs and have enough left for tomorrow too! The neighbors asked if i wanted to ride with them, so did, we did not have to take two cars. It was nice. They are from Ontario, near Upper Michigan. Nice people. Having problems with their furnace and different things with their new 5th wheel, but seem to be getting things in order.
Boy, i can't wait for some HEAT here. Why are we always complaining about the weather? or is it just me? too hot/humid or too cold, right now can't decide which is the worse thing :)
Stay warm, Merry Christmas!!!!
You know, want talk more about the water, you would not believe it is the same body of water! I feel the Pacific is always more or less the same, always waves, some higher and more furious than others. But the Gulf can be darn right placid, just gently lapping the shore, than you have days like yesterday where it is just as furious as the Pacific and the wind directs the waves crosswise to the shore and it is fairly crashing ashore. And the color is way different too, on gentle days you have that see- through turquoise color, many hues showing the depth, looking fairly tropical like in Cozumel, Mexico. The many faces of the Gulf!!! Have never seen it steel grey like the Pacific tho.
So, there you have it, my various thoughts on the state of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida Panhandle.
Take Care all...stay warm!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, December 12, 2010

This is the Bay side and the wind was just whipping the water all over the place and into the approaches to the bridge, but it only does it on the Western side of the Bridge, the Eastern side is much calmer in the wind, it is rather weird.
Yes, we are in the midst of another storm system, supposed to be down to 28 degrees tonight and the next, then it is supposed to get warmer to be in the 70's during the day and 50's at night over the weekend, can hardly wait for warmer weather.
Yes i decided to go to the beach, which was a BIG mistake, it was so windy and cold, it took your breath away, no shells to speak of, and i did not walk very far, the Ocean was trying to be tide in and was way up on the steep beach and getting higher with each wave, so gave up early and went to Winn-Dixie for a chicken pot pie. Neighbor, Joe, stopped by to remind me to leave my water on so it does not freeze.

I don't think i put much on here about what i am thinking or trying decide, it is just much better to show results and not what lead to that. But just can't decide what to do or where to go, when. Have been investigating sites in New Orleans and San Antonio. Think the French Quarter RV Park in New Orleans would be a good place, looks good on their web site. I really want to spend a couple days there and see what is what, hate to do all of that by myself, but so be it, why go right by there and not stop and see?
And then Travel World RV in SW of San Antonio which is the area of the town i need to be in, to be on the same side of town as where my Aunt is. Looked it all up on map quest and that worked out really well. But if is stays this cold here and it is in the 70's in Texas then think my decision is made after the 1st of the year. Also think it is too long to stay in one place and be uncomfortable, that is the whole point, isn't it? to be flexible in your plans and you can move on when you need or want to.

Trouble with Blogger

It won't download any pictures!! which makes a sort of dull blog. Still nothing different today, oh the weather was marginally better/warmer, BUT that is going to change again after the week end, rain and coldness will prevail. What? is this a weather blog???
laundry today and do the sheet thing, which is increasingly hard to make that bed in that small space back there :) oh well, we all have our cross to bear...
Luci got to see Joe twice today, so her world rocks...........
Stay warm everyone! Take Care and God Bless

Favorite Place

Soon after I got here, they put this chair in & it is one of our favorite places to relax :) so comfy!
Neat thing happened today, I was at the little beach on the bay by our RV park, soaking up the rays as it is a really nice day, and a pelican came right in, in front of me, dove & caught a fish, Just right there!!! In front of me!!! I happened to have my eyes open right then! How often does that happen? It was so cool to see!
Have a good day!!!

Luci's Friend

This is Luci's friend! Joe...He is our neighbor out the front door. She hears him drive up and gets excited, steps outside and sees him and just goes crazy!!! She wants him to pay attention to her and pet her, and he does, everytime. Comes over and talks to her, kneels down and pets her and rubs his hands all over her. It is the cutest thing. When we go to the office to get mail or take the garbage to the trash bin, she looks over there and pulls on the leash, wants to go over and 'talk' to him. I swear, she is in love. Joe is from Ohio and here for the winter as we are, so the affair will continue.
I am just the accsesory, the one that feeds her and picks up her poop and walks her.
Hope you all have an accessory and a 'friend'

Where am I??

For whatever reason, some people don't know where I am... I am in Navarre, Florida which is about 30 minutes East of Pensacola on the Florida Panhandle. I am right on the bay which is separated from the Gulf of Mexico by a little strip of land or barrier island, only a fourth of a mile across, if that. There is a bridge over to the beach part and about 6 high rise condos and a bunch of houses on stilts, which gives rise to the fear of high water action one would assume :). All of the beach pictures were taken over there, the sunset pics are of the bay on our little beach on the bay just East of said bridge. It is a little back water sort of place, not much going on, but the way I like it.
Blogger would not download any pictures, will try again b4 i close.
Oh, and cameras I use are a Canon S3IS with 12x zoom and a Polaroid t1455 that i just got off of Woot! with 5x zoom it is very small and that is what I wanted, BUT everytime I have it I find that I should have brought the other with 12x, like when I walked along the bay and there were a bunch of pelicans sitting on pilings and could not get really good close-ups as had the Polaroid, so don't know how that is going to work having it, but it is handy in certain instances, like walking on the beach, can just put it in my pocket, which is nice, the other has to be hanging on my neck. So there is the trade-off that I have to recoelf withncile mys. For years had (and still have) a Canon AE1 with 70-200 lens and another wide angle lens and wore that thing around my neck until I am sure that is why I am getting hunch backed :) BUT got great pictures of the family with it, which is why Mom got it for me!!! Lucky me!
AND I can't believe it is December 1st!!! already!!!! I have been here for 6 weeks? unbelievable.
Oh and I did manage to survive the storm yesterday and last night, the rain did finally stop and the wind, and halfway thru the night ran out of propane, the furnace woke me up blowing cold air, brrrr, so had to get up and close the auxiliary tank and turn on the RV propane tank, and get more propane today. I thought I used it rather fast, but it has been over two weeks since I got that tank, looking back on the check book, so did not think that was too bad. Hope not, don't want to be using more than I should, but also want to stay relatively warm and not freeze :)
Also the computer updates seemed to be working as was able to do my banking this morning, had to log back in after each transaction, but that is ok as long as can get it all done in a timely manner and by that I mean on the 1st!!!! Have been doing checks every other day on Spybot and the last couple times it has not come up with any errors, so feel good about that.
So all is well here, hope it is well there too!!
Take Care and God Bless
