IRIS Gardens!!

Schreiner's Iris Gardens near Salem Oregon...What a wonderous place, this is the 2nd time I have been here and it is always a joy.  THIS is the time of year they bloom and surely bloom they do!!
In the early 1900's FX Schreiner in St Paul Minnesota decided to seriously pursue his gardening hobby. By 1925 he had over 500 varieties. Before his death in 1931 he told his children, if they could get along, this would be a good business BUT they needed to find a better climate.  They found the Willamette Valley and completed the move in 1947.  The gardens are still family operated: hybridizing, growing and distributing thousands of Iris annually.  They ship large, healthy rhizomes, freshly dug from the fields of Oregon's fertile Willamette Valley.  They guarantee each variety to be true to name and to thrive in your backyard or garden.
I will let the pictures speak for themselves as to their beauty.  It is a wonderful place to see and walk about in.

 This was called "Orange Impact"
They also have many varieties of Peonies, clematis, Alium, Dogwood, poppies, lupine and columbine.....  I sort of went crazy with what and where to take pictures!!!  It was sort of gently raining off and on.  There were also artists set up painting and selling their wares...  It was a really fun morning and a great drive getting there and back.  Even took the Wheatland Ferry across the Willamette River getting back, more tomorrow.... as this is heavy with pictures and rather long
Leave you with my most favorite picture!!
Take Care All & God Bless
