Great Tree

This tree is around the block from us on the North, on Luci's and my daily walk.  Think I have featured it before here, but it bears seeing more than one time.  It is a great tree! I am sure really old, it takes a long time for a juniper to grow a huge trunk like this one has. It has the great lichen patina as well...
Our little neighbor hood has a large block within it, with a couple of older 'homestead' like places on it, with 1-3 acres.  Old fencing and one of the places brought in some horses just last week to keep down the grass.  There were developments started in the early 70's, here and there sort of willy-nilly amongst the farmettes, one of which was where my house was built. It makes for a nice walk and there are lots to see.  There are some sidewalks here and there, nothing connecting really or going on for any length.  A block just south and another west of us it is better zoned and there are full sidewalks on all of the streets, But those homes are more like the 80's there.  So just depending on which way you go and what you want to see that day.  3 blocks even further is the start of the cemetery and a new school and even a new subdivision bordering on the school.  So lots of different areas to see.  But this relatively short and small area is sort of like in the country and fun to see what goes on, on these little plots of land. They even get water from a canal that goes along west of me, just a house distance away, where we like to walk and disturb the ducks.  am sure this is where 'the Duckers' have their nest!!
Take Care all

  1. It's nice to have a little bit of country inside a more developed area.

  2. You had me with the title. That is definitely a great old tree.

  3. Hey, maybe we should come take that walk with you while we are in Bend May 1-4th :)

  4. Whenever I see an old tree, I think about the history that has taken place around it during its lifetime. It always impresses me:)

  5. That must have been a very grand tree in its life.

    1. It is still alive, had parts of it that needles on it and berries, still going strong!!
