Yesterday

Visited with good friends, Barb Miles & Don Lee, Mom & Pop, in Beaverton....
They had poppies in their yard...
Also had dinner at Roses' in Sherwood, they have the LARGEST desserts in the world, i am sure and GREAT pastrami sandwiches and Matzo Ball soup!!!!
Added to that the shopping and stopping to take pictures here and there along the way, More to follow in days ahead :) Tomorrow we head back to Central Oregon. Weather surprisingly has been really nice, only rained that first day, Thursday, so all in all we are happy and it has been a really fun trip!

Oh My!!!

Am in McMinneville!!! Had a horrid time getting the internet password!!! Could not remember what it was! With a couple calls to ComCast finally got into the innards of the modem thingy and poked around until i found IT!!! the beach was wonderful! rainy..but still walked on the beach, found some shells, and stopped at a kite place and found some things :) needed a pole for a flag at the new house. stopped at an antique place and at the RV park that Rick & Paulette stopped at, to see about staying there for a bit this summer. It was a really nice place.
The Beach was wonderful...love the beach. But think i would lose the battle against mold and mildew if i lived there permanent, Haha.....

Lunch

Today two of my 'Lady' friends and i went to Redmond for lunch and to look at THE house. My sister-in-law met us there. They thought it looked nice.. workable :) and there are two huge lilac bushes blooming near the rear gate! My favorite flower!!! It was just gorgeous. Someone even mowed down the grass/weeds so they were not knee high. It was grey. I made sure they both knew how to get to my house.
It is starting to rain and supposed to rain all week end. This is a big weekend here, in that people want to get out and start their summer plans/camping. It is going to be pretty miserable for them. Even snow on the passes. We are planning to go to the 'valley' tomorrow and take a short run to the beach on Friday for the day.
So i am getting out of town for awhile. Excited to sort of be on the move.

Today on our walk i remembered to take the camera!
Spring has finally sprung on the High Desert!!!!
Green is bursting out. You probably have to click on this picture to see the blooms, but they are there at our house!!!!
Even the evergreens have little cones coming out and have new growth!!!
Daffies are still blooming, this one was alone BUT it was in FULL bloom!!

Sleepy Day

One of the less desirable parts of pet ownership is "picking poop" which is what i did today, then mow the lawn. THEN i slept most of the day in an elongated nap. Can honestly say i am not too tired right now :)

Howdy

Here it is Friday. Went to sign papers today, lots of papers! The sellers are fixing the smoke detector issues and the kitchen faucet is being replaced. So, things are moving along.
It was a beautiful day today. My roommate went to get a computer and desk today, that she found on Craig's List and the people had a nifty leather like recliner for sale. It came home with me. It is great. We just have to get everything out of the back of the pick up now :(. You can find just about anything u think u might need on Craig's List! So, now all i need is a couch and some sort of a kitchen table and a couple chairs. The space is so small where a table should be, don't quite know what will work in there, so will probably wait to live with it awhile to see what might work. Maybe some little tables set about, but have to wait until i get all my books/bookcases in place first to see what kind of space i have. Oh and silverware!!! Ha! might need some of that!

Passed!!!

The inspection was wonderful!! He said it was a very well kept house, almost new roof, no termites, rot or mold. New dishwasher, water heater and electrical panel! Could use some more insulation blown into the attic space to get to R30. The Monitor heater is almost new and very efficient. The furnace works also. Has vinyl windows, It is going to be SO cute fixed the way i want it. Going to go look at paint samples and kitchen faucets this week end.. So just have to get past the appraisal hurdle and all will be well. The realtor did not think there would be a problem with that as it is selling for 25,000 less than the tax rolls show.
Brian went with me, so there would be someone else there hearing the same thing and we would both remember what was said :). He has lots of ideas for the landscaping.
Getting excited for the change, which i know will be for the better!!!

House News!!

Well the sellers accepted my offer. So, on to the inspection, which is Thursday.
It has a small metal shed out back, my son and i went to look over the property in the rain Sunday and the flooring was wet in there, soooo, that has to be pulled down and replaced....don't know what the flooring is made of but has a funky indoor-outdoor carpeting, all soggy and sloping in one direction. Probably rotted wood. Ah, well, as long as the house is sound. There was not any obvious water damage i could see. Certainly not like some houses i have seen recently :( with wet ring stains on the ceiling and carpeting.
I have been looking through material and yarn around here, looking for a project. Found some wool kits, embroidery books. Just have to get some thread and i will be all set. Have to DO something creative. Sitting around is really getting boring, the weather not helping. Yard work done, just maintenance now. So we will see what i can get done, while waiting for the house process to progress :)

Movie

Got up and did a dump run, twice! Had to load up all of the yard debris that i have been working to get out of the beds, into the pick-up. Take it to the dump, with some of the neighbors stuff too. Then come back and trim some overgrown juniper bushes next to the front driveway, and to the dump again. They have been having free dumping of yard debris for the last week and today was the final day!!! t
They do this to prevent fires from getting out of hand and away from houses, you are supposed to have defensible space next to the house cleared away. This encourages people to clean up their property and keep fire damage down. You should have seen the MOUNDS of stuff, pine needles and cones and juniper limbs galore!!! Tons of stuff. there was a line to dump!! AND they had nice young men there to help us helpless women :) unload the truck!
Then we went to the movies and saw Brides Maids, it was pretty funny. It was a sold out movie.... Then back to veg out!!! Did not get back home until 6:30p

A House!!!

Made an offer on a house in Redmond!!!! It is older built in 1979, 2 bdrms, 2 baths, altho one is sort of funky and a part of the utility room, single car garage. It has character . But i t is below 80,000 and in fairly good, clean shape! Does not smell!! Vinyl siding. Yard needs alot of work as has not been cared for in some time The grass is all pounded down and dead in places. But with the savings in the monthly payment by not going over 100,000 i will have extra money to help towards fixing it up. Will have to see if they accept the offer and things go as we all hope :)
You would NOT believe some of the houses out there!! people just trashed them or did not care for them, even some fairly new ones, like they had no pride in ownership or of where they lived. New homes in my price range were very small with small lots. This one is on a curving corner, has sidewalks in, has extra parking on the side/back. Fenced back yard with a shed. room for a greenhouse.
I am very calm about the whole thing, anxious on the acceptance by the seller of the offer. Want to get started in fixing it up
Don't know what this will do to travel plans, but hope that i will be able to do both :) i want it all!!! HA!

Mowed the lawn for the 1st time today, wooohoo, BUT the whole grass catcher came off the mower completely and can't figure how to get the thing back on! Normally just the bag comes off, but it caught on the gate and off it came.
Am hoping u can click on each picture and get a larger version of each pic of this collage rather than the whole thing :)
Did see a couple of nice houses on the tour yesterday, but in my lower price range there are alot of really icky houses, that people just trashed b4 they left, sad, why do people do that. It was sort of like Househunters on HGTV, there is always some thing that u don't like, one little thing, or big. Why can't this house just be where that other one was, or have this or not that. So it is a searching battle that will go on. Where would i be happy and with what?

I've Got to tell you!!

Old House near Culver, Oregon that i keep taking pics of over the years, eventually hope to get 'the perfect' one :)
Well when in Madras visiting the RV, i locked myself out!! and
the keys were in the ignition, spare ones in the pick up in Bend.
SO, got a ladder, had left the window over the dinette unlocked, thank heavens and have decided to just leave it unlocked. Was able to slide it open and the screen and had to get on the TOP of the ladder. Got my right leg in and was straddling the window sill and the left leg was being pulled by the ladder as it was slipping, the ladder, not the leg. Had to undo the table and lower it while tilting back and forth, as did not think my weight would do the table any good, being supported only by the ONE leg and the pinning on the wall. It was definitely quite the balancing act, to not lean on the table nor let the ladder go under my left leg. when the table was down, then supported by the benches i was able to lean and fall into the space, get up and out and take those darn keys with me... I was just glad this was way out in the country, hopefully no one saw me and not in an RV park where there would surely be someone to notice....
Love, taking pictures of trees and our juniper trees are especially suited for this as no two are alike, some lots older and twisted than others. This one is at the very top of Round Butte.
Today am going to see some houses in Redmond with a realtor. It is exciting, but scary too. I bought a low income FHA home in Culver in 1975. Then a single wide mobile home in 1978. So this will be really my 1st venture in real estate in a loooonng time. Have done alot of soul searching if this is the right thing, but can just do what we think is right at the time. :)
My trip showed me i am more of a social being than i would like to think and i feel the need to be near family. To not be gone and inaccessible for such a long periods of time.
Oh...and we woke up to a skiff of snow again this morning, what is this s***??? anyway??? It is not really that there is snow but that it is cold enough for there to BE any in the 1st place.

Madras/Gateway area from Round Butte
Have been at my brother's place in Madras/Gateway area visiting the RV :) Got the inside all cleaned/vacuumed. It is very nice and quiet out there, Luci likes it as she gets to run on the farm and does not have to be on a leash!!! Visits with all the dogs and cats. Tries to be boss!!! The cats are not too worried about her and are as big as she is.
On the way home visited an area i like to view, the dam at Round Butte, the rivers, the general area and it is on the way home to Bend.
Hope u all had a great couple of days and have a great Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there!!!

clean house

Goodness, i had to take the phone to my room yesterday in the early afternoon as the room mate was watching something in TV and i needed to hear really well and the sun was shining!!! In my room and as i was talking on the phone the sun was coming in the window, normally i am in there only at night, and it was picking out all kinds of DUST. My room had not been cleaned in the 7 mos i was gone! Dust was everywhere!!! Could no longer live with it, then as long as i was dusting, well, it just followed that the floor needed to be done too! which lead to the hallway and the rest of the open living space. Move rugs, books, magazines, flotsam from all over, windows needed cleaning, furniture moved to vacuum under and around. Made the dogs go outside, as they were trying to avoid me, but were interested in what was going on, they were mighty sad to be out there all alone, only with each other, the crying and whining went on and on..... So i had a very productive afternoon and feel as if i have accomplished something!!! And things SMELL good, my feet no longer meet up with little pieces of dirt, I am happy. I know this sounds like we are just horrid messy pigs, and maybe we are. But i never seem to get the URGE to REALLY clean- all the time, it overcomes me only on rare occasions, Most of the time i can fight off the feeling :)
Now i am all tired and muscles are stretched.
Oh, and something came and ate all of the pretty little yellow pansies i had just set out :(
