Knee update

Don't know the name of the poses yet, but was on my knees, upright, with one leg out to the side the opposite arm in the air and leaning towards the outward leg and the knee that was down, just popped.  THEN we changed sides and I did the same thing!!  How stupid was that?  But who would have thunk it would happen twice?
Am marginally better after ice all day yesterday, will do the same today and hope for the best, I did tell the instructor.. but she was beginning to get embroiled with the people that had been trying to get into the room early!!!  she was very upset with them... she is very conscientious and am sure she will have different things for me to do.  Am NOT giving up, there has to be a way to do this.... hate to think I just got to old and brittle to do it....
There is not much choice to overdo as I can only amble along at a hobble at best  :)
Take Care All... I am!!

  1. Glad you're doing better, but just remember, the sleeping dog position is the best!!

  2. Loree, I am sorry to hear that you injured both of your knees while doing yoga. Isn't that always the way--you try to do the right thing and then your plans get thwarted. ;-(

  3. I wasn't going to post this, but I tried Yoga many years ago, and I guess I had a shoulder that didn't want to be involved. Every time I did some of the poses it hurt, so I just stopped. Did you mention to your instructor your problem with your knees? If so, I'm surprised she let you continue. She should at least know which ones are best for you until your knees heal.

You know what, though? I have a Wii, and there is Yoga on one of the discs (with many other things). I can do the poses, and the more I do, the easier it gets. But I can go at my own pace. Do you have a Wii?

Another thing - a friend gave me a DVD of "sitting" exercises - it would work well for someone with issues in their legs or hips. If you are looking for exercises, you might want to check on-line and search for something like that?

  4. I know that pose, but not the name of it. It's definitely not a standard pose and not part of any beginner class I've ever seen. Is this a beginner class? If you have trouble with all knee poses - like cat/cow - try a towel under your knees in addition to your mat. I sure hope this doesn't cause you continual problems. So sorry to hear this. Yoga should be soothing and relaxing, not a sport to see how far you can stretch or turn yourself into a pretzel IMO. Warm warm room really matters to your muscles and joints.
