Home!!!

Well i made it home, but not without some blood being poured! I left Tehachapi Sunday and got past the Santa Nella exchange on I-5 and the pick-up i was towing blew the back right tire. I have the Good Sam Emergency card/insurance, but since i was in a 'dangerous' situation being right on the freeway, they told me to dial 911, they would reimburse. It was 1:30p during shift change so took awhile for the Police to show up. I tried to change the tire, found the jack and got the lug nuts off, but could not for the life of me figure out how to get that tire off from under the bottom of the vehicle! Policewoman and i had a nice chat, Tow truck driver took his time getting there, then he could not change the tire as the tire was wrapped around the rear axle. I only knew i had a flat as people started honking and waving me over. Could not see anything in the camera or feel anything different. Tow truck driver was very nice and did not drive me all the way to his shop in Los Banos, but to a tire service place at a TA Station in Santa Nella and one of the guys changed and aired the spare on his time off, paid him $25, he was happy. AND there was an RV park right across the freeway that was very nice, i got the last cable site at about 5:30p. THEN Monday i went to Wal-Mart in Los Banos, About 6 miles and got a new tire. So i would still have a spare, just in case, as things were going, one never knows!! Got out of there at 10am and got home at 10p!!! Drove right thru with rest stops, Just wanted to get home and did not get dark until Chemult, then it was hairy, as could not find the switch to make light brighter and had no dash lights so did not know how fast i was going, but i drove what i was comfortable with, people were passing right and left, oh, well... A friend came over and helped my unload the RV, what a mess, how did i have all of that extraneous 'stuff' in there!!! Took WAY too many clothes, as i always do. A person does not need EVERY piece of clothing owned! So Bonnie Bounder is stripped down to her fighting weight, Bet she just bounces along now! Luci was SO excited to be home, she just ran in circles. And is back to her bad habits :( Thanks to all for following me, hope i can have something to say still, now that i am home for the Spring and Summer months, with some short little trips here and there, then we will see.... OK, for you Oregon people, Roadkill Report: 1 coyote, 1 skunk, and numerous rabbits Take Care and God Bless ALL

  1. Glad you made it home in one piece, even though your tire didn't! What would Oregon driving be without the fresh aroma of squished skunk, but what...no possums?? How was 97??

  4. What a couple of days you had! I don't blame you for driving straight through on your last day! I hope you find the time to keep posting. I enjoy reading your blog and also seeing what books you are reading. I'm just finishing up the Hunger Games trilogy--it's not the type of books I usually read, but they were riveting.
