The Doily

These are not everyone's 'cup of tea'...  my own mother said they were dust catchers.. but  I LOVE them, they are so 'old school'  and it is the puzzle that I go for....  this one especially I KNEW I could not do, it was the one on the front of the little book I had gotten years ago.  But one day I just wanted/needed something to do that was a BIG challenge.  And you know, if you follow directions and just go down the line for line, it all worked out, even that little green and white ribbon doodah in the middle!!!! As you went on row for row when you added on the next white part, connecting them all, they just started laying the way they were supposed to...how about that????
It is the puzzle, the coming together, each row to make a whole  :)
There you go
Take Care and God Bless All

  1. Oh Loree, that is just beautiful. And a blue ribbon - how exciting. I love to crochet but haven't done much lately. You did a great job. I love the old fashioned craftiness of crochet.

I still use the beautiful yellow and white one you sent me daily. I treasure it. :)

  4. I can see why you won a blue ribbon, Loree!

  5. We have to second what the others have said. Such tiny, exact needlework. That's the kind of thing that was very popular in our grandmothers' day, but seems to have become rare today. Suzy's Mom crocheted table cloths, so lacy looking yet sturdy. Good for you for taking on the challenge!

  6. Yes, it definitely deserved a blue ribbon, it has many different designs within the whole. You know what I like best, besides the center flowers, is that you used the grey color to offset the white. I think you would have won the blue ribbon if there were many more entries. Good Job! Where are you going to use it? :)

  7. Absolutely gorgeous Loree. I'm old fashioned too and love doilys. I used to crochet a lot at the farm. All kinds of things but now I'm so busy outside I don't seem to have a chance. I did it mostly in the winter when I was stuck inside and now I never am. But I can sure appreciate the work you put into this. Definitely deserves the blue ribbon.
