Day 4, Short Sand Beach
Twin Rocks this morning...
Skunk Cabbage :(.. but it IS Spring!!! And this is a coastal, Spring bloom... hesitate to say it is a 'flower'
We went to Oswald West State Park, otherwise known as Short Sands... because it is a very short beach :)..... between the headlands....
We found a couple cute little shells and a couple agates, that is always cool when that happens. but there was not a lot to pick and choose from and VERY lucky when something is spotted...
There were lots- 6 or more on the way down to the beach that were surfing.. some families.... more people than I have ever seen down there. It is a little jaunt down there, thru massive Sitka Spruce and Hemlock forests. And of course the cabbage, lots of moss and undergrowth, drippy water, little rivers on both sides of the canyon. It is a great walk. I remember it fondly with my family, lots of places to play hide-n-seek.. jump out to scare the parent kind of thing...
There was even a waterfall at the very end of the beach, lots of logs washed up three creeks running into it, rocks to clamber over.... Luci was quite concerned but managed like a trooper.
There were many huge rocks, see me sitting on one of them?
It was not too windy nor cold, just a very nice walk and sights to see....
Take care All & God Bless

I am enjoying your blogs from the beach and all of your wonderful photos. And I must comment that you are looking VERY fit, Loree. :)
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying your beach blogs from the west coast and compare them with my current east coast beach - very different but equally beautiful. Love the skunk cabbage picture. Really fantastic. Luci and you both look great in your pictures. She looks like she's having a good time too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful place to spend some time. I enjoyed looking at your photos!
ReplyDeleteYou are having too much fun in the sun and sand! We can't stand it anymore so now we are going to take Poppy and Donna's sister Laila and her husband Brian on a trip to the coast today! It's all your fault, you know!!
ReplyDeleteI remember Short Sands Beach from my youth, which was ever so long ago, way last century some time. Thanks for the tour. You are looking better every day, and your blog says you are feeling better and stronger! Yay for you!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like to take a walk along that beach.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great beach!
