Big!

Big excitement yesterday was getting to ride along with Grandma in the TRUCK....

Sister- in-law, Rita drives truck, her dad taught her, she did long haul for a number of years.
Now she hauls 'things' for different people throughout the area, cattle mainly, pigs from Canada to Klamath Falls, silage and hay...

It is amazing how many different places cattle are taken, one place to another.  I went with her one time was taking load of cows from Madras area to Fort rock area... We turned on a DIRT road out in the middle of no where, crossing cattle guards, taking down gates and putting them back up and out of no where there was a corral and a chute and a COWBOY on a horse, nothing else around... unloaded and he and his dog took off herding them to who knows where.  That year it did not look like there was much for them to eat there, but apparently there was enough.
Also saw a HERD of deer, must have been over a hundred, LOTS of deer....

Wild child ready for the ride.... This is my great-niece Rylie..... she is 6!

It is a LOOOONG two trailers.... lots of hay.

The dirt was just powder, got all over everything. So very, very dry.

To the right is Grace, she goes along too. Jumps right up into that cab and gets in the back.. She is very devoted to Rita, stays right near her all the time.  And not interested in meeting anyone or socializing.... she is a good dog to take along.

Each one of those straps has to be tightened, really tight.... straps go thru a roller thingy that has a series of holes in it and you stick that tool in and ratchet it,  one hole at a time until it won't go any further.... didn't really take that long, and the people that put the hay on threw the straps over and around the top, inserting into the 'thingy'... ha, this is very technical... Many times she has to load, they have a machine that picks up two bales at a time and places on the truck, and throw the wraps over the load herself... not an easy job to do. Then you have to go, drive fairly slow and easy as the load still sways somewhat.  then unloading you have to go backwards with everything you did to get ready, loosen, take off straps and use machine to unload and stack.  Does not really sound too much fun.
AND there are alot of things i don't know about..
And there are off.....
She was just moving the truck from the hay stack to their yard a couple miles away to get ready to deliver on Sunday.  Did not find out where she was going with it, alot of the hay from this area goes to Tillamook area for the dairy farms.

Take Care and God Bless, safe travels to those on the road.
