"Drive"
Today wanted to DO something even a little thing, (tired of being cooped up in the house and all the rain this week end) so called friend Carol G and asked if she wanted to go for a 'drive' Dad was always taking us for a "drive" when we were kids... that was our outing, don't know why he wanted to do that, other than to just get out and see things, as he drove all week long, why did he still want to drive??? He also liked to show us the areas where he was hauling or had been getting logs for the mill.
Soooooo went to Devils Lake.... Cascade Hwy.... past Mt Bachelor... last week end the hwy dept opened that hwy by plowing out all of the snow and opening the north end near the mtn.. it forms a loop that you can go to all the high Cascade lakes and end up in Sunriver if you should so want, can also drive thru to hwy 58 i think that goes over to Oakridge then Eugene
Mtn picture above is of Mt Bachelor coming from Bend
Sparks Lake and view of West side of Mt B on the left
This is Devils lake, as are all of remaining pictures.... it has a really pretty color to it, and looks lots greener in the summer months... there was still quite a bit of snow about, but not near what there has been in past years...
Luci was quite excited about this tree!!! Was just quivering.... something interesting must have peed there, huh?
Back in the 50's when we used to come over to visit family, u could always tell u were in Central Oregon because halfway down the mountain past Mt Hood the roads were paved in cinder and were red. This was the last section of road that was red and they paved it over, re did it a couple years ago... that red road lasted for quite some time.... but it did not have the traffic that hwy 97 did or does.... Also only two lane. the hwy dept does training on road clearing using the snow plows on this section when they open it up in the Spring and they try to have that done by Memorial Day.... Due to all the camping and different lakes in that area..
Take Care and God Bless All.....

Barb and I have gone for "drives" all our lives, it is nice to relax, drive the countryside and just enjoy nature.
