Went to park to see georges surat (sp) sculptures, In the Park...
Got photo bombed
Then to a beach on Credit Island and the kids played in the sand and we watched and i found a bunch of agates
It was very nice there, had to have my sweater, but no one else did. and only saw one boater and he was going fast and oh my he provided quite the waves, it was a little alarming. Made the kids get out of the water right away, that Mississippi goes along at 20 mph and you do not want to be sucked into it
rylie on the Mississippi
kids buried one another, then got sand all over everything and in everything..
Here they are digging holes, then filling them with water, which appears to be a 'thing'
Then to the sky bridge, so they could climb up the stairs and then run up and down, it was air conditioned..
up the river heading north the lock and dam in the background, the largest roller dam in the world, built in 1931 by Army Corps of Engineers, it is historic and very interesting to see in operation, which i have thru out the times i have been coming here. especially in a flood.. patented in 1906 especially for this place on the Mississippi.. as a side not the dams on the Mississippi are not for flood control but to keep the river at a steady 20 feet for the operation of the barges that go up and down the River.
And looking down the river, south... with Centennial Bridge in background.. actually in Davenport is the only place on the Mississippi that the river goes East to West
and then it was close to 5pm and we took them home and came back to the house to fix dinner and have only one kid to contend with.. and she took a shower and was on the phone to her mother and friends for the rest of the evening, new age...
Take Care All and God Bless
