Finis Aurelius... the last.. golden one He will be known as Finn or Fini... Probably the last dog i will have. I am still on a list in Portland for a rehome older doxie.. they said on the site that it took months to go thru all the apps they got, so we will see.
He sleeps alot and is VERY stubborn... has not had that many errors in potty training, but i carry him around all the time and set him down on pee pad, and for the most part he goes on it.. have taken him outside too.. but it seems to be a novelty and just happens to maybe pee while racing about... tonite he just raced back and forth... it was icy and snowing when we finally got him home, so just could not set him outside in all that cold. and when i tried he screamed like a banshee.. so was glad for the pee pads..
He is very bonded to me.. and follows me about and cries when i get out of his sight... Brian and robin have sat with him a couple times and it went ok after the, at first hysterics... and yes, i did not even try the crate fro sleeping at night, it just seemed so mean, even if in the long run it is better for them, so i read.. it is sitting out in the living room and he goes in it now and again, he fetches quite well, and will throw the ball in the crate and he will go in and get it. he has a tiny mouth sized ball and assorted 'stuffies' that he will go get and bring back... We have a wire cage that we can set up and i left him in that today with the crate, pee pad and toys. he was in there about an hour b4 Brian got home. AND when they got home, there he was outside the cage, running about... what did he do, scale the 2 foot side? We will never know... I put him in there with pad while i was in the shower and he did his business on the pad... he won't go right away, no matter how long u wait or try to get him to go, he waits until i am in the shower.... well..... just feel i have to keep at it, it has not even been a week, so can't expect perfection in such a short time... will just keep re-enforcing and continue dragging him to where he is to go and repeating what i expect him to do. Take him to it after he wakes up, eats, plays and that has worked so far, he normally does a bit... getting used to what he looks like when he wants to go, the way he sniffs about and circles, looking.... little stink
he is just a little thing, but a fast mover.... sleeps pretty much thru the nite.. gets up to pee at 4-5 am then will go back to sleep. has not really gotten to the eating thing, they owners, what are they called? had food out all the time and i feed twice a day... so he has not really eaten alot, about 1/4 cup a day... some liver treats when he potty's as he is supposed to.... and he does not act like he is starving... all in all he is pretty mellow
oh, took him to PetCo and he had a total meltdown in the car, with me not holding him, him attached to a seat belt in a car seat... started in the back seat, but had to move him to the front, and keep petting him.. in the back seat, he somehow threw himself to the floor and slipped out of the harness... that was fun. him screaming the whole time. He is just a baby and will learn, but will i survive? mind intact? hahaha
Take Care all and God Bless
