Got home about 2;30p on Thursday... all safe n sound... Got everything out of the car in good order.. had laundry to do!!! and a car to clean. Which i did on Friday, to the car wash... i am sure they used salt on the roads in Utah as it was all over my car... a crusty rime where the water/snow/slush was upended on me. Some of those summits were seemingly high and NO guard rails... could have just soared out into the wild blue! Stopped at all the view points.. It was great to see things from up so high and it was a great time to move about and not be in one place, driving.. in every place, were there another person, we all interjected how marvelous it all was 'God's Beauty'... Could not help but think of all the pioneers (women) that walked over all of this, and at the break of each hill/mountain to see just more of what you had just been thru and more and more and more to go.. how in the world they did it all. Such bravery and fortitude!! and this was at a time when things were starting to green up, what about in the heat of the summer, or the coolness of the Fall with the harbinger of Winter on their heels....
It was good to see everyone and that things were as i left them, and the house was clean and put together (thank you Robin!!)Now i need to get an oil change and get windshield washer fluid into the tank..Arizona by far has the worse roads!!! with Oregon not far behind... Nevada had good roads... less traveled or all of that gambling money??? Lowest gas was at Panguitch near Bryce Canyon @ $3.20 a gal and the most expensive in Burns, Oregon @ $4.26... On the way down i spent the night in Tonapah, NV and on the way back home, in Munds Park, AZ, (near Flagstaff) Kanab, UT, and Winnemuca, NV
I went in to see the Grand Canyon, last time i was there was in 1986 with Brian in July... it was very hot!! Also stopped at Bryce Canyon, but did not go to all of the view points as there was snow!!! and i was not at all dressed or had the attire to be traipsing about in the snow!!! I have a senior pass, so get into all National Parks free... normally it was $35 per car... i think, did not really pay alot of attention to that, as.. i was free.... i got that pass when a bunch of my friends and i took a trip to Hawaii(big island) and got it at the volcano there. that was about 2000, and it has really served me well every since.. Was able to get into many places when i was in the RV 2010-2011
It was a great trip. i got to visit with old, dear friends and see a lot of different country and come away with the realization that i can do this, i can go and do things. i am still capable...
Take Care all and God Bless
That's how I felt when I took my solo trip last summer to Montana. It's amazing the confidence I gained. I'm ready to go again this summer. Glad you got to see friends and beautiful country.
