My uncle used to have a cow/calf operation and raised alfalfa, he used a truck like this one to haul those cattle in the spring to summer grazing, from Culver, Oregon to Hampton, Oregon then back again to bring them home in the Fall. Computer distance calculator says that is only 92.5 miles. Seemed like a LOT further back then, He would go back n forth until the job was done, he had two of those trucks. We also used the trucks to gather fire wood for the winter (we only had a fireplace for heat in those days) We would just trundle along.. When getting the cows in the Fall the 1st load had to be the horses, so they could ride out and gather all those cows from all the nooks and crannies of the range...
This place was on the old hwy from Bend, part of Canal BV, they had the cutest veggie stand set up and got some lovely tomatoes from them. Should of taken a pic of the little stand/house.. it is in the background of the 1st picture.
Just love old vehicles like this one, they have so many stories. I am quite sure he used those trucks well into the 80's, certainly the 70's .... time goes by and my mind can't hold all the details of day to day life.
See!!! lovely tomatoes
Take care all and God Bless
