Project

Looks SOOO innocent doesn't he? Well... let me just say... He is NOT!!!  Had to get a child proof thingy for the cupboard under the sink where the garbage resides.. why you may ask. WELL,little Finn will NOT stay out of it... over and over again.. you can most times hear him and can yell and he will come around the corner and look at me. like, What?  but go right back to it.  He is getting good enough that you can leave him in the house, were it not for the cupboard thing.  :) Soooo a child thing was needed.... Well, took a time for us to figure how to screw it the right way... not having had a child that got into things in the 1st place and then said child is now 53!

Brian gave up, so after waiting for him to reconsider I took it upon myself to get to it... AND what an adventure that was.  1st and foremost it was great playtime to have mom down on the floor on her back with her head sticking into the cupboard. So had to keep pushing him off. then the things were awfully small and with my nails it was hard to hold both the screwdriver and screw all at the same time. and make sure it is in the right place.. At first i had it backwards.  Cuz you are under the cupbrd and it seemed like everything was backwards... and when you would drop the screw or screwdriver.... there was Finn to the rescue, would swiftly grab it up and run with it into the living room.. and after trying to get up off the floor and chase him down, find out where he dropped it or fish it out of his mouth, i figured out to just have a couple of them at hand, to try again..(after i figured out that he was not going to swallow or try to eat the screw, thank heavens..)  SOOO i got the little clasp on the inside done and Robin came into the kitchen,(thought they had gone to bed) and almost fainted as she thought i had fallen and hurt myself, or could not get up... BUT then Brian came out and helped me get the door part on, in the right place, and he has much more strength in arms than i do and was easily able to get the darn thing screwed in and it WORKS!!!! Finn is now unable to drag the garbage into the living room to shred.... which in my world is a good thing...

One may be thinking during this whole procedure why not just train him to not get in the cupbrd in the 1st place..... well, this is easier and faster and after WEEKS of trying to get him to not get in there, i gave up... i am too easy.... can't stand making him feel bad about life or himself, there are so many other things he is doing well with.. i am focusing on them  Also had to box up all of my beanie babies and stuffed animals as he would NOT leave them alone and 1st chance he got, he was grabbing them and racing all over the house with them playing chase/tag whatever... and if i did not have a leash attached to him, it was impossible to catch him! (and don't ask why i have beanies and stuffed animals, i just do, OK?) and no manner of ass whipping and scolding was working, It was just too tempting for him. Boxing, problem solved... and really, i did not need to have them displayed. Altho they are cute and liked looking at them now and again. A different time in my life.

So that is that. end of story

Take Care and God Bless

  1. Finn is the perfect example of a stubborn dachshund. If they decide they want something, they will do everything to get it. The world is theirs. And in our house, it was their world. Removing temptation is the only way to win. And who can say no to those eyes.
